What is a dormant whale?
A dormant whale is a wallet that holds a significant bag and has stopped moving it. Darkmen watches a hand-picked list of large wallets and measures each one's silence from the last transaction it signed itself: the last time it sent a token or made a swap. Only a wallet's own key can sign its transactions (how Ethereum transactions work), which is why that is the clock that counts.
Incoming transfers are deliberately ignored. Anyone can send a token to a famous address, and spam airdrops to well-known wallets are constant; counting them would reset the clock for a wallet that never lifted a finger. The same goes for token transfers that merely name the wallet as the sender: anyone can create a token and forge one, and fake tokens have done exactly that to wallets on our list. Only a transaction the wallet signed itself ends its silence. Exchange hot wallets are left out altogether — they move every day as the exchange shuffles its own funds.
What Darkmen tracks
When a tracked wallet that has signed no send or swap of its own for more than 14 days sends a token or makes a swap, Darkmen flags it the moment the transaction is read. Fourteen days is short by the standards of a long-term holder, but for the wallets on our list it is rare enough to be worth a message when it ends.
The alert includes:
- The wallet and the chain, and how many days it had been silent
- What it did — sent a token or swapped one — with the amount, and its dollar size when the token is a stablecoin (USDT, USDC, DAI) or ETH
- A link to the transaction
How the alert works
Enable the Whale Wake-ups module in your dashboard. Choose your delivery channels (Telegram or the Darkmen web feed). From that point, every wakeup of a tracked wallet after more than 14 days of silence is pushed to your chosen channel in real time.
When an alert arrives, look at two things: where the funds went and how long the wallet had been still. A deposit to a known exchange address puts the coins somewhere they can be sold; a wallet-to-wallet move may keep them under the same owner's control. Neither is a forecast. What the alert gives you is the wallet, the size and the transaction, as it happens rather than in a recap later.

A wallet that has been still for weeks takes a deliberate act to move. The alert cannot tell you why it moved — a sale, an OTC deal and a custody migration all look the same on-chain — but it tells you that a quiet balance is now in motion, and how large the move is.
